The main technical aspects of this photo focus on shutter speed, contrast, leading lines, lighting, point of view, and rule of thirds. The shutter speed was set on 15 seconds, the contrast of all of the colorful lights add to the visual pleasure of the photo, the lines of some of the lights take the viewer through the full picture, the lighting was interesting as it was actually pitch black not light as it looks, point of view is focused on by looking up the stairs and thus creating the rule of thirds which the two sides of the stairs are laying almost perfect on it. The room's lights were shut off to capture all of the lights specifically from our manipulated lights. We laid the camera on some sort of base and manipulated the camera by putting the shutter speed to 15". The attention of the viewer is grasped by having them look through all the lights and discovering more and more different patterns of the light. I feel as though there is some sort of mood, but I just can not get my grasp on how to explain it.
On the other end of shutter speed as opposed to the first picture, this was shut at an under 1/64 shutter speed to capture motion. The lighting was morning sunshine (almost sunrise) and the depth of field was quite large. With the point of view being large and the focus only being on one side of the picture, the contrast of the black and white worn by the subject adds the visual grasp for the focal point and the background is not allowed to distract the viewer. We took the shot at a parallel height, but it was diagonally a little bit behind me. The mood is set as an action-type mystery as why is this man dodging for his life, what is attacking him?
Out of all of my pattern and texture photos this one is my favorite. As I said, the main focus of this shot is on pattern and texture. The texture of the rusting away links tell a story about age and time. The patterns of the links and the mysteriousness of the actual beholder of the links add visual flavor to the picture. The lighting was on sunny and the shutter speed was on a medium shutter speed. The point of view of the camera was taken a little bit above, but straight on for the picture. The zoomed in focus of the links decline the ability of the viewer to not be focused on the subject.
